But unexpectedly, his son accepted this requirement where he had to dam the river and build a boat before morning. The work done by Sangkuriang was quickly completed because there was the help of a jinn.

Dayang Sumbi, who saw this, racked his brains to make a way to prevent the work from being done. Therefore, he unfurled a silk cloth to make it look like the morning, such a condition provoked the chicken crow because he thought that this morning had come.

But Sangkuriang at that time had not finished his work, so he was angry because his proposal had been rejected by his own mother. Therefore, he vented his anger by kicking the boat that had been made. The boat eventually refused so that it became a mountain that is currently known as Tangkuban perahu.

Origin history of Bandung City

Another folklore of  West  Java concerns the origins of the city of Bandung. The story begins with a rivalry between Jaka and Wira who are students at one of the colleges. Where the nature of the two is opposed to each other but complements each other so that they are like brothers.

However, conflicts began to occur when they loved the same woman, Sekar, who was the daughter of their teacher. Jaka, who has a beautiful face, finally asks for Sekar but his father without the  consent of  the putri accepts the proposal.

But in fact, Sekar loved Wira, so to subtly reject the proposal, he made a contest where he would marry a person who could extinguish the lava of the Tangkuban boat. Eventually, Jaka and Wira looked for a way to win the competition, but Jaka was unable to do so.

But he agreed, but after wandering jaka instead of looking for a way to turn off the lava, he played. However, this is different from what Wira did where he did in different ways to be able to turn off the lava. Until he finally sees the beaver that made the wooden dam.

This eventually allowed him to get a way to turn off the lava. Until finally Wira blocked the Citarum River by demolishing the hill so that it could stem the water from the river until it was finally able to extinguish the lava on the Mount Tangkuban boat.

So that in the end he turned the basin into a lake. In the end, Wira and Sekar eventually married and had children. However, after many years, the dam that was created collapsed due to the higher water discharge, so the water from the lake dried up.

As a result, a landmass appeared that had loose soil that caused many people to move to the new place. Until finally the new place became the city of Bandung whose name was taken from the dam or weir.  This is the folklore of West Java that many people still do not know.

 Folklore about Lutung Kasarung

The folklore of West Java that is no less interesting is that of Lutung Kasarung which tells the story of a princess named Purbasari meeting an untung who is a prince who is cursed to be a monkey. Putri Purbasari herself was thrown away by her brother because she was used so that she appeared to be affected by a skin disease.

Cerita javanese from west lutung kasarung.   It was because of his illness that he was thrown into the forest to meet the langur. The langur, who loved the ancients very much, finally prayed to the Almighty that a lake would appear whose water could cure the  skin disease of  the p utri.

Then, after  healing from her skin disease, the putri was finally brought back to the palace, but the princess’s older brother named purbararang became jealous and feared that his power would be taken back by Purbasari. Eventually, the older brother asked the king to organize a race, namely a fast cooking and hair length competition.

In both races, the younger brother became the winner, so the older brother eventually asked the king to do a new race to determine who the winner was. The race is about who is the most beautiful partner.

Until finally Purbasari brings a langur and presents him as his partner, but his brother laughs at him because his partner was a monkey. As a result of the heartache, he finally prayed to the Almighty to restore his form to its original state and then be granted.

At the end of this  West  Javanese folklore  , Purbasari became the winner so that he had the right to be a royal dreamer and his  brother P urbararang was not subjected to punishment even though he was proven guilty and lost.

 Folklore on Nini Reef

Another  West Javanese folklore  is no less interesting is that of the Nini Reef where the story begins with an old couple whose names can be blessed with children. To meet the daily needs, the husband will go to sea and in the morning will go home with the plug that will be consumed by himself or sold.

But one day, the husband was allowed to leave to go to sea, but until the morning, the husband had not returned home. The woman also panicked, so she went to find her husband with other villagers. But one day, the woman who finally gave up prayed to the Almighty to be reunited by the Almighty.

But suddenly a rock appeared, in which someone said that the stone was the incarnation of the husband. The surprised woman finally prayed to the Almighty to be turned into a rock like her husband too.

Of course, the two stones are placed next to each other, which so far can still be seen on the coral beach of Nini. Therefore, there are so many lessons to be learned from the above story about a woman’s loyalty to her husband. It is therefore very important for the younger generation to know this  West  Javanese folklore  . So there are many lessons that can be taken and that can be applied in everyday life.
